      • A man killed in the deadly Amtrak derailment south of Seattle has been identified as an Auburn child pornography collector and an outspoken proponent of child sexual abuse.
      • Benjamin Gran, a leading  member of an online forum dedicated to promoting the sexual abuse of children, served a federal prison term after he was caught with a collection of child pornography videos.
      • The Pierce County coroner’s office said Wednesday that Gran, 40, died of multiple traumatic injuries sustained in Monday’s crash.  His death came 6 years after child pornography investigators arrived at his apartment door.
      • Agents visited Gran’s home in July 2011 after an investigation launched in the Netherlands targeting “boylovers” identified him as a member of a pedophile group online.
      • Investigators described Gran as a close friend of Robert Mikelson, a Dutch man at the center of the ring and a fellow supporter of the movement to legitimize the sexual abuse of children.  Mikelsons, Gran & the other forum members asserted molestation and rape were healthy for the children they hurt.
      • Gran died on the inaugural run on a faster train route between Seattle and Portland, Oregon.  Authorities are investigating the wreck and have said that the train was going 80 mph in a 30 mph zone, derailing south of Seattle and toppling some cars on Interstate 5 below.

      • Bryan, Texas.  A man has been convicted of capital murder in the brutal slayings of 6 people at a remote Texas campsite in 2015.  Found guilty on 3 counts of capital murder for his role in killing 77 year old Carl Johnson, 40 year old Hannah Johnson, 45 year old Thomas Kamp, 23 year old Nathan Kamp, 21 year old Austin Camp and 6 year old Kade Johnson.  The victims were part of a blended family that had come from as far away as California for a weekend together to camp.  They were camping on property they’d recently bought from Hudson’s family.  Hudson resented the sale and killed the six after plying them with alcohol.  Cynthia Johnson (Carl Johnson’s wife and Hannah Johnson’s mother) was able to hide from Hudson and was the sole survivor of the shooting.

      • Court documents show that on January 6, 2017, a Walmart shopper in Waynesville found an SD card near a checkout lane.  Officers say it contained images and videos of child engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and it belonged to Mehaffey. … revealed he possessed more than 114 videos and 754 images of child pornography.
      • During a search of his residence, a probation officer found an unreported cellphone hidden under the defendant’s mattress.  Mehaffey admitted to using the cell phone to view child pornography on the internet.

      • The 39 year old Noble pleaded guilty in June to distribution of child pornography.
      • Noble was also ordered to pay $26,000 in restitution and pay a $5000 special assessment to the Domestic Trafficking Victims Fund.

      • The deacon, Patrick Logsdon, was the manager of Anthony House in Roosevelt, New York.  For more than 30 years, Mr. Logsdon, 70, took in up to 9 men at a time, giving them a bed, home-cooked meals, help finding a job and, above all, a tough-love attitude, said James Pfeifer, 61, who worked at the house with Mr. Logsdon for 4 years.
      • The men, many of whom spent decades in prison, were allowed to stay for 6-8 weeks, during which time they were expected to behave with dignity and prove they were trying to get their lives back on track, Mr. Pfeifer said.
      • The police said they were seeking a suspect, Andre Patton, 47, a resident of Anthony House.  Mr. Patton was described as armed and dangerous.  The motive was unknown.
